Hi,
I'm using Krita 4.4.1 on Windows 10 PC Because I am an old lady and still fell I'm newbee, I have run into things that I cannot solve myself, although I have browsed posts in this forum. I am in the process of making templates for needlework and templates for making paper objects and I draw with vector graphics. Krita has started behaving strangely, sometimes but not always. Explanation follows. I work with the same canvas size on all drawings. W=19,00 cm H=27,70 cm - to ensure I can create dimensionally stable A4 PDF files. I always have a white 'paint layer' as a background (bottom layer). Very often I reuse layers from a drawing in a new drawing (or part of a layer), and most often use the method 'copy layers' and 'paste layers' for this. Sometimes the inserted layer becomes invisible until I turn off the background layer. Although the inserted layer is located above the background layer. Sometimes the drawing of the layer becomes much smaller than the original drawing. For example, a drawing that is originally w = 13 cm h = 10.5 cm becomes w = 4.25 cm h = 2.5 cm when the layer is inserted in the new document. In addition, the drawing at the layer can not be marked/selected. Sometimes the lines become like pixels instead of sharp lines. In documents the rulers show W=19,00 cm H=27,70 cm in all dokuments but shows 748 px in one and 2244 px in an other or 90 px in a third. To day, just now, the drawing in the preview window is mirrored horizontally. I have tried Press and hold Shift + Alt + Ctrl while starting Krita. This should show a pop-up asking if you want to reset the configuration. But I don't get the message: Press yes to reset it. Instead I get: Allow this program to make changes to your PC What is wrong? How to fix it? I have made some screen cuts but cant find a way to insert them in the post. Cheers, Anja |

Hi,
Most of the issues you describe sound like your various documents have the same size in cm, but not the same pixel size. That is, if you use cm to define the size of your documents, to get consistent file size you need to make sure that you also always use the same Resolution (ppi) value. I would suggest that for all your files, go to the menu Image - Scale Image To New Size, and make sure to set the same width/height in cm AND have the exact same Resolution (for example 300 Pixels/Inch is a common value). Then, about "the drawing in the preview window is mirrored horizontally", it sounds like you actually activated the "mirror view" option, which mirrors horizontally the view of the drawing (shortcut is m key, or use the button on the bottom-left of the Overview docker to enable/disable the option). |

Hi Animtim,
Thanks for your quick reply. I just tried to Scale Image To New Size and set the resolution to same pixel - It solved som of the problems - Thanks! And I might have tuched something that made Mirrow Preview - I didn't know this is possible. But what about the inserted layer becomes invisible until I turn off the background layer. Although the inserted layer is located above the background layer. And When the drawing of the layer becomes much smaller than the original drawing. For example, a drawing that is originally w = 13 cm h = 10.5 cm becomes w = 4.25 cm h = 2.5 cm when the layer is inserted in the new document. OK the size might be because differense in pixel resolution - but.. In addition, the drawing at the layer can not be marked/selected. |

For the remaining issues, we would need access to the files to see what's happening exactly.
If you can upload your krita documents on a file transfer service (like wetransfer or something similar) and paste the links here, we can maybe help you further. |

I only could find one document where th drawing is not visable when background layer is visable.
Must have deleted all others because they were of no use. Hope this link works https://we.tl/t-8wieO87tgW cheers, Anja |

OK, I see the issue in this file, it's in two parts: your file is in CMYK color mode, and the layer with the content is using the Multiply blending mode.
In a "normal" RGB color mode, multiply will have the effect of "darkening" the underlying layers. But in CMYK, because it is a subtractive color model, it will have the opposite effect, hence why the black lines are not visible above a white layer... Two advices: -It is best to always work in RGB color mode. CMYK should be used only to convert the final result, and only when really needed, when you need to convert your document to a specific color profile for a print shop and need to control the amount of ink that will be used. -Keep your layers un Normal blending mode, unless you really need different blending modes and know what you are doing. |

Animtim, how clever you are.
Thank you for your answer. I didn't know my drawings could/would be in different color modes - actyally I don't know about the color modes - may be because I' not an atrtist, I only draw kind of straigt lines. I suppose the color mode is connected with the palette used in the document. I always (at least I try) use the palette named Standard, slightly dull colors, but ok for my templates and easyer for me to have the same color for lines of same purpose. This palette is active if I use the foreground/background color from the top second menu line when I open a dokument or create a new, but I have to activate it when I select a line and and want to change the style and color , in the docker where I also can change the line style I have to find and choose the Standard pallette even if I used this pallette last time I worked with the dokument. Sorry a lot of words. I cant find anywhere to set either RGB or SMYK mode. So when there is a mis mach in color mode how and where can I see it and how can I change it? I haven't tryed anything with Blending mode, unless it's activated by a keystroke that I haven't been aware of - don't know where to find this. How / where can I see if a layer is in a blending mode - and change it? |

The color model is not related to the color palettes... Maybe you selected CMYK by changing the document settings by mistake when creating a document... Anyway.
To convert a CMYK document to RGB, go to menu Image - Convert Image Color Space, and select Model: RGB/Alpha, Depth: 8-bit integer/channel, Profile: sRGB-elle-V2-srgbtrc.icc Note that the colors might change a bit during the conversion. To change layers blending modes, select a layer, and check at the top of the Layers docker for the drop-down menu (where is written "Normal" by default), this is the blending mode for selected layer. |
