Hi!
I'm having problems with Krita (see this post: viewtopic.php?f=139&t=169457), which is causing my menus to disappear, among other issues. This seems to be a result of xmlgui versions changing somewhere. When I run a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04.1 (server image + ubuntu-desktop) and then install the Krita 4.4.2 appimage, it works for a bit, and then breaks. So it seems like something in the background is updating or changing xmlgui? I don't really know what I'm talking about here, but I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot this, and my online searching for xmlgui seems to indicate it's a KDE thing. I'm running a high school computer lab of 30 computers with configuration management via puppet, so easy for me to reimage and test things, but currently I have no working version of Krita (the version available in apt, 4.2.9, has different bug where the pop-up palette won't work properly) I'm not sure where to go from here. Should I be trying to pin XMLGUI? What would cause the version to change, breaking my Krita install? EDIT: Also, student user account/home drives are networked, so its also possible the conflict might occur if there is some configuration or other xmlgui files saved in their home drives that remain after a fresh install. |

Could you use the Lime PPA instead of the appimage or the Ubuntu repository?
Also, doesn't Ubuntu have the Ubuntu Software store, that has the snap installation package? Maybe try that? |

Thanks! I'll try the ppa, I can't remember if I tried that yet...
I can't use snaps because our lab uses AutoFS home drives and for some reason snapd can't handle that (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1884299) |
