Krita 4.4.2 keeps crashing - I figured it out

Hi there, new to this forum. I've used Krita off and on now for a whole year with earlier versions, such as 4.3, 4.0 etc. These all worked fine, no problems. I did a new computer build AMD 3700X with 32 gigs of ram. I recently loaded various brush bundles, to use the new brushes from Krita.

What's happening is that I see a lag when first opening up the program and selection new file, when changing brushes, and switching to different layers. Then at some point, the program just closes. I open it up again and it has no memory of that happened. Luckily, at this point I'm just testing out brushes so no harm done.

The brushes that I've been using have been the Environments 2.0 brush. This set of brushes never gave me any problems in earlier version of Krita in slower machines.

Is there something I should set in Krita, like in Photoshop it needs to be directed to another drive for extra memory for scratch files? I'm using a Huion 640 tablet. Any info appreciated, thanks.

I found that there was a swap file directory and changed that to a 4 tb drive I have that is very fast. I also increased the memory to 70%. So now, it works normally. There was also a lag in creating a file when I first opened up the program. Now that's gone too. So, hopefully this will help others.
