For the first time since I started using Krita (exclusively) for my artwork, I find myself entirely unable to use the program ...at all... Like any other day, I open the program, create a new project from my custom template --- as well as the default(s) --- select my brush [tool] to begin painting on the first painting layer; but nothing-nadda... not one line, mark, or any possible way to smudge something that's already on the canvas.
No paint. No lines.... ....NOOOOO!!! I FINALLY found a program that I can use well with my Huion tablet (which worked perfectly until today) while enabling me to enjoy the wonderful world of pen-touch dynamics; something that Gimp wouldn't let me have my fun with --- at all. I can see that there are no issues with my pressure sensitivity as Krita clearly knows when I'm hovering over the canvas or switching to another tool. Also, messing with the settings for the tablet read the pen as it's supposed to. Also, to test the tablet itself, I used PaintDotNet which opened/operated as was to be expected without any brush/bucket/selection issues at all. Others (which i cannot use at all) include the bucket fill, ANY selection tool, Pan, Dropper, etc. I've updated to the latest version of Krita and checked my tablet for any sneaky driver updates that were missed.... Which there were none to be discovered. Any ideas --- no matter how seemingly far-fetched they may be --- are appreciated and (if worth a shot in the slightest) will be attempted! ---------Specs--------- Windows 8.1 (64) Krita: v 4.4.5 Pen-Tablet: Huion Kamvas 13 |

Have you checked whether there is a smallish selection active on your document?

I made sure that there were no "selections" active on the canvas while this was happening.... I can say for sure tho, that the only thing that "fixes" the issue is to reinstall Krita --- however this is only a temporary solution, since the broken brush problem resurfaces eventually. |

Can you please next time it happens go to Select -> Select All, and then Select -> Deselect, even if you don't believe in its usefulness? It's just for the debugging purposes. Or, best, first go to Select -> Deselect, unless it's greyed out; then if it still doesn't work, then repeat the procedure with Select All. Will you, please? That will help us understand what's wrong.
Other than that, try to change Krita to use Windows Ink in Configure Krita -> Tablet Settings (you'll need to restart your whole PC to make sure it started working that way). That might prevent the issue from happening if it was input-related, and not document related. If none of that works, can you paint with a mouse? Or can you paint in a new document (created by File -> New)? |

Firstly, yes; I'll be sure to do that next time and report back afterwards with the verdict. Secondly, I do believe that I've changed that setting in Krita, as well as having "Windows Ink" enabled directly via Huion's tablet settings. In regards to the last question, painting with a mouse... that's always worked, even when the tablet didn't want to. |
