Hey guys! Recently I had to do a re installation of my OS and of course Krita is the first thing I install after a fresh setup, but I was wondering how to export settings in case one has to install a new OS or move to another pc and wishes to get back all his settings and layouts. I used to do a lot of clean installs when I used linux since I always like to check the new features (i use windows 10 right now) but in the end I always liked to manually tweak my workspace and stuff to try new ideas and so, but kind of hate losing my brush tags, so in sum, i want to know how to export and restore:
Custom Brushes Brush tags Workspaces settings (like the number of brushes that appear in the palette) Shortcuts (this is the easiest since there is a button to export right there in the configuration menu, but I'd like to know if it's possible to do it along with all the rest just backing up one folder) Thank you very much for your help in advance!

Migrating krita to a new computer is quite easy.
C:\Users(your-username)\AppData\Roaming has a folder called ‘krita’ in it. That is the resources folder so just copy that over to your new computer, replacing any 'fresh' one that may have been created by running the new krita installation there. It also has personal workspaces and customised canvas input settings in it. C:\Users(your-username)\AppData\Local has a few settings/configuration files called ‘krita(something)’, e.g. ‘kritarc’, ‘kritadisplayrc’, etc. Copy those over to your new computer but don’t migrate ‘kritacrash.log’, ‘krita.log’ or ‘krita-sysinfo’, for obvious reasons. If the migrated to system has a display with a notably different size or aspect ratio, you may need to remake your personal workspaces to look better. Restoring settings is similar, you make backups of those when your installation is to your liking and restore then from backups in case of problems. On a Linux system, the configuration files are in ~/.config and the resources folder is in ~/.local/share |
