Hello Everyone. I'm new to Krita (Just downloaded it yesterday) It's great, only the clone tool keeps cloning the same spot over and over again. I'm not sure what is causing the multiple duplications. Maybe it's a setting I'm not aware of? I tried to find information about this online, but I've found no help on this topic problem. Thank you for any help.

The 'Clone Tool' is in fact a cloning brush preset that uses the Clone Engine.
If you open the Brush Editor (F5) then click on Painting Mode in the left column list of properties, you see a list of option boxes and they have a tooltip when you hover over them with the mouse cursor. I think you need to tick 'Source point move' and untick 'Source point reset before a new stroke' Those options always confuse me. When you've made changes, click anywhere outside the brush editor window to close it (or click its window 'X' close button for the new 5.0.0-beta1). |

The setting was / is on: tick 'Source point move' and untick 'Source point reset before a new stroke' .. Still the same problem.. I might have to use a different program for cloning until I figure out what's wrong....Clone is useless for me now.. Thanks for the help, though.

The clone tool brush preset works fine for me with those settings and no other options ticked.
I notice that you're using 'Clone Tool Copy' which I assume you made yourself? I suggest that you go to https://krita-artists.org/ and create a New Topic there (sign up and sign in needed) and describe your problem there. It would be a good idea to upload a screenshot of the brush editor window so that people can see your settings. Also, say which version number of krita you're using and which operating system. |

Someone told me this answer:
"I’ve only just realized, after the suggestion, that you’re cloning onto the same layer. When I previously said that it worked fine for me, I was cloning onto a new layer above my image layer. Try making a new paint layer, which will be placed above your image layer, and clone from the image layer onto that one. The Brush Editor’s Painting Mode area gives the instructions for that." Me: That solved my problem. So, for anyone else having this problem, here's an answer. |
