Hi, I've tried all this versions of krita on windows 10 pro 64 bit. The install part goes smoothly, but that's all it does.
krita-x64-4.4.8-setup krita-x64-5.0.6-setup krita-nightly-x64-5.1.0-RC1-f409ceb9fa-setup krita-nightly-x64-5.2.0-prealpha-716923cad3-setup It does the same in all those versions, when I try to open it, it barely flashes the windows "thinking" circle besides the mouse twice and it does nothing. There's no folder named krita on appdata nor local nor roaming folders. Event viewer gives this error every time I try no matter the version. Thank you for your time. I usually resolve this kind of problems myself but this one got me clueless. |

I am no expert on this, but I will give it a try.
It would help to have a more detailed crash report. Here is information on how to produce a backtrace. It seems that many of the ntdll.dll problems with Krita are due to graphics driver issues. Krita requires Direct3D 11 or OpenGL ES 2.0 or higher. You likely have Direct3D 11 or higher, but it is worth checking. Windows comes with a DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Also, you might consider updating your graphics driver if you are not running the latest version. Sometimes security software can be too aggressive. Before you run the Krita setup, you should bring up the Properties of the setup.exe and Unblock. Similarly, if you use the Windows portable version, Unblock the zip file before extracting. Also, if your antivirus is Windows Defender, you might add an exclusion for Krita. |

Thenk you for that. I tried to follow the instructions on how to generate a log file here https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_man ... ml#dr-minw
But it does nothing as before, it only blinks the windows wheel besides the mouse and does nothing, it doesn't even prompts a window saying it crashed. I have a pretty good hardware on this pc except for the graphics card that is a geforce 660ti, I don't know if that could affect it somehow. |

Is there a kritacrash.log file in appdata/roaming?

No, nothing referring Krita on any of the AppData folders. It doesn't seems to be starting the program cause the files and folders aren't even generated.

The the app gets killed by Windows before it can even properly start... Maybe try to start it in a compatibility mode, or start krita.com (not krita.exe) from a terminal/console window? Or start the portable zip version, or start it as administrator.

Well, I can't figure out how to post an image but it doesn't do anything, just goes to the next line of the command, it doesn't post anything, nor the .exe or .com
I've tried with the console before to see if there was something but no. |

Hm, and running in a compatibility mode or as system administrator?

No, it doesn't do anything, I've tried compatibility with windoes 7 / 8 / vista / vista sp1 / vista sp2. All of those with and without admin. The only difference is that windows prompts the "Program Compatibility Assistant" asking if the program worked correctly.
Now that I see, sometimes it gives this error on the event viewer. All the other times gives the same error than before only mentioning the ntdll.dll Still there's no folder or file created on %appdata% local nor roaming referring krita, so no crash log either with the portable version + debug bin and lib folders. I have a Geforce 660ti Driver version 473.6 |

Hm, but this system report shows something new: it's no longer a crash in the nt dll, but in the nvidia graphics driver:
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_67369ca881613a11\nvoglv64.dll |

Okay, so downloaded nvidia drivers 473.81 and make a clean install, after restart only 1 monitor showed image and it was like 440p. Checked the drivers and there wasn't any. So I performed the installation a second time and choose the normal installation. After restart everything went back to normal, the desktop icons were on the correct place (most of the times they appear scattered around anywhere but not now for some reason) And Krita is opening, I can create a new canvas and the drawpad seems to be working too. So it was the dam drivers. Thank you for your time and help Halla .
