This is my "ToDo" list the things I don't understand (yet!). If anyone knows what even one of these are or how they work, I'd love to hear it!

  • How to add / subtract from selections
  • Image -> Shear Image
  • The difference between colorspace and color profile (used in a bunch of places)
  • Tools -> extensions manager
  • Tools -> tutorials (any chance we can one day use record macro to capture a tutorial in Krita?)
  • File -> Versions (oh, please let this be ultra simple revision control ala Google docs)
  • Image -> Separate Image (color separation like CMYK?)
  • Difference between File -> Document Properties and Layer -> Edit metadata
  • OpenGL shader filter

* add/subtract selections: in the tool option window for selection tools, select between replace, add, subtract and intersect.
* shear image: that's tricky :-). The current menu is a bit of a placeholder for when the transform tool can handle shear. Unfortunately, Casper Boemann, the author of the transform tool has been way to busy to implement that -- we can use some help here!
* a colorspace defines which channels you have -- red, green, blue or gray and alpha, and how big those channels are, between 8 and 32 bits. a profile defines what the values for those channels mean in terms of color. i.e, the actual color on your screen will vary from profile to profile even though the numbers are the same.
* the extension manager is still experimental, don't know too much about it myself, it's Cyrille's project.
* tutorials, yes please! We need people to write those.
* file/versions: this is an experimental koffice thing that we haven't integrated yet. It's meant for simple version control.
* image/separate: this creates grayscale layers for all channels in your image/layer
* document properties are associated with .kra documents, layer/metadata follow standards like exif.
* opengl shader filter: another experimental feature. We should disable that for the release: Tom Burdick has started making it possible to create filters using glsl, but the work was never finished.

Wow. Thanks for the fast (and thorough) reply!

I'm hoping this is somewhere I can help... when I understand Krita better. So would this menu go to pages on the web (docs.kde.org?), or macros recorded in Krita? Just wondering what's needed.

Nice! :)

Thought it would be something like that.

Anyway thanks for helping out by answering all of those. You just saved me about 6 hours of research / experimentation. ;D Hopefully this post might help someone else, too.

The tutorial would go to userbase.kde.org, we could then link to them from krita and koffice.org. Ideally, the manual would be entirely edited from userbase as well.
And in the future, allowing to download recorded macro from Krita would be an extra bonus, but the feature isn't quiet there yet (you can only record filters for now), so hopefully in the future.
