Hey all,
Like many people, I don't have a fully working tablet at the moment. I was reading about how the idea of the dynatool is to let users paint in a way that simulates tablet pressure by using the velocity of the mouse instead. This would be *awesome*! Trouble is, that when I go to use the dyna tool that it seems to do something completely different. It seems to make the brush orbit *around* the cursor instead. So my question is this: Is there any way to configure the dyna tool to act just like the "Paint with brushes" tool, except replacing tablet pressure with the cursor velocity? This is a tool that would be extremely useful to the 99% of users without a working tablet, and seems to have been the original intent. If there isn't a way of configuring this, could it be easily created? It seems to me that if most users don't have a tablet that it's important to let them use the full power of the paint tops as well... Thanks! |

errr.. I don't think all the orbit and gravity stuff was made as 2nd thought, or Lukas really likes to spend time on details .
To change the size of the brush depending of the speed of the mouse, use the Speed sensor in the Size brush option (the advantage of having this as sensor is that you can apply it to any brush option, instead of size only). There is just a small problem: the speed sensor doesn't work currently . |

Thanks Enkithan!
Oh, I never thought they were a "second thought". I was just confused because when I looked up what the dyna brush was supposed to be, I read comments from Lukas describing a very simple sounding but useful tool. When I tried it though it seemed like something completely different than the descriptions! I took a look in the painttop configuration and found the speed sensor you mentioned. I never noticed those there before! Combined with the standard paint tool, that looks like exactly what I was looking for. At the moment, it only seems to work with the dyna tool, and even there it seems to be based on the speed of the brush, not the speed of the cursor, but still, if this worked with the standard brush I'd be thrilled. Ideally I'd love the paint tool by default to be something like MyPaint's default tool (an ink-like small black brush that gets thinner when the cursor moves faster). I'm constantly amazed at how powerful Krita's actual brush framework is. I keep discovering levels of power that were hidden before, even if there's still a few bugs to work out. I think the main thing we really seem to need is not so much a new feature, but a clearer way of letting people know that clicking on the "brush preview" is where 90% of Krita's power is hidden! |
