One of the reasons I keep going back to Painter for is the 'impasto' brush. It is excellent for showing rounded hills and other features on golf courses etc. Is there something similar in Krita?
Thanks. |

There is no impasto effect as in painting with thick color in Krita at the moment.

Thanks for your quick reply. Do you know if there is anything like that in development?
I am new to all this. How would I get someone to make this happen and how would I support him? Thanks. |

There was some experimental work, but that was never finished. See http://pentalis.org/kritablog/

I was working on that as part of GSoC 2010. I didn't finish the feature but I hoped to one day come back to it and finish it. I suppose that I better try to get it working even if not in the most elegant of ways... What do you need from an Impasto tool to be enough for your needs?. (If you have example images with the effects you're looking for that would be excellent and very helpful). I can't promise actual impasto support for now (it is out of my technical ability, it would take time that I do not have to finish it); but if the effects you need aren't too complicated, I think I can fix the phong bumpmap filter to let you build a filter layer that simulates an impasto setup. PS: The phong bumpmap filter already "works", but it needs to correctly handle color spaces, it crashes Krita when used with any image that's not 8 bit RGB, and there's a few other GUI bugs causing crashes that I need to fix. |

Good Evening. I'm getting what I need using Gimp. I tried to get something going in Krita with no success. I'd rather be using Krita.
I'm doing a golf course and need to show the relative elevations on the holes. What I have now is crude but good enough for this round. Thank you for your time and work in developing these tools. Every time I try Krita there are more tools and surprises. It's like coming home and finding a package has been delivered. I very much enjoyed using Painter but have been on Linux for about two years. I'm hoping Krita will be as cool as Painter is. You can see an example of the effect I'm after here: http://www.3dillustrations.com/main_ill ... e_book.htm Thank you again. |
