Years ago animators used a round drawing table that was easily to spin. This made sketching and shading very fast and accurate. This was a huge help in keeping strokes consistent while they worked over an image.

Painter has this feature but I've never seen it in another illustration package. If it is here in Krita I have not figured it out yet.

Does anyone know if there is such a feature in Krita?

Yes, in Krita 2.3 it's possible to rotate the canvas. To rotate you can either go to the pan tool and press shift to rotate with the mouse. Alternatively you can rotate with ctrl+[ and ctrl+].
