hiya =), me again, i'm wondering what exactly does the "sketch" brush in Krita, well, what can it do that the "Pen tool" can't already, i played with all the settings for having a pencil-like texture with the "Sketch" tool, but is just not looking the way i want, have you ever saw "Muro" brush engine?
I know, or at least i thought Krita would have the same capability that a web app for drawing, but all i got is this: rater than sketchy, looks hairy and that's not helping me to sketch, also the same goes for the spray brush, maybe i'm expecting an "Air Brush" pretty much like GIMP does have, but then again, in either case, both are possible to achieve with Krita's "Pixel Brush" adding soft thick and having the brush scatter value high. About the vectors inside Krita, no complains, indeed is one of the things that makes me trying to use Krita (yet, due to a great variety of little details, like no tuts, few templates for the brush and overall having to try every setting for every tool to see what it does, i'm still unable to make anything) i just have a question regarding vectors inside Krita, is it possible to "fuse" two shapes? (boolean operations?) without having to merge into a raster layer? and for the tuts, don't worry for that guys, i know you are working hard and doing your best, =), is just that i tried every thing that came to my mind and it seems that either i don't know how to achieve those results or that Krita is still with bugs scattered everywhere. -greetings! |

The sketch brush really depends on using good presets. We've got a couple that are coming with the next release. For examples of what the sketch bruch can do, check this thread: viewtopic.php?f=138&t=95046

Thank you for that appreciated my modest work. In that thread now I shared sketch brush preset, that I have used. You all can use it as you like. I hope this can be useful for something. |

I regularly do sketches with the sketch brush
http://d.facdn.net/art/pentalis/1308167 ... _tiger.jpg http://d.facdn.net/art/pentalis/1311851 ... talons.png The default presets included in Krita for the Sketch brush are good enough, but you can play around until you get something that goes well with your workflow. With many brush engines, but specially with the Sketch brush, I've found that the best I can do is just trust it will look good in the end. There's something about this brush engine that makes it look hideous first and then it looks very appealing, you just have to get the hang of it. Don't give up early, keep persevering. Edit: And make sure you're using a recent version of Krita of course =) I'm not sure earlier versions had presets shipped with the Sketch brush, but I know 2.4 alpha does. |

thank you for the presets, but one thing i didn't count was that i'm working with a mouse, i'm not using a tablet and provably that will make less enjoyable my experience with Krita, also i'm using version 2.3.3 provided by my repositories, a few days ago i tried to look for the source (Calligra Suit) but i wasn't sure at all if was safe for working, and i decided to wait until next stable release, the downside is that i'm maybe having a build that contains bugs that by current version in development are solved

Boolean operations are not supported inside Krita currently. The only way to do that is to copy into Karbon, do the operation and copy back.
You can try the development version. It has a lot of improvements and shouldn't be less stable than 2.3 most of the time. |
