I just downloaded Krita for the first time, so I'm not sure if I am doing something specifically wrong or if there is a bug in the program. I use Ubuntu and downloaded Krita through Ubuntu's software download center. I am not sure how to find out the version of the Krita program I downloaded. The problem I'm having is: when I draw, unintended vertical lines appear all over the canvas! It is difficult to describe, so I saved a picture as a .jpg to show you. Using a wacom tablet, I wrote "Why?" I did not draw any of the scribbles surrounding the word. Here is a link to the picture : https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/V ... directlink

Ah yes... This is one of the *buntu wacom/x11/qt bugs... I'm not totally sure right now what the proper fix is -- not being a *buntu user. However, judging from the distribution in the bug reports, about 90% of Krita users _are_ *buntu users.

Try downgrading your Xorg (wacom) drivers, I updated the drivers only to discover I had those same lines too. David Revoy has a process at the top of this blog post. http://www.davidrevoy.com/index.php?art ... tall-notes |

I actually spoke with someone recently (damn you, failing memory!) who told me that they just installed the latest Ubuntu (11.10) and that Krita worked fine in it, so 11.10 may have been fixed. Will have to confirm though...

I can confirm that the problems have been fixed automatically after upgrading to (Kubuntu) 11.10.

Thanks Ghosthand. Good to know. Now, can anyone confirm whether this problem still exists (after updating) in (K)Ubuntu 11.04?

I can also confirm that the problem still existed in Kubuntu 11.04 as of 2 weeks ago. I had all system and app updates from the repos. The only way I got this fixed was to upgrade the entire distro to 11.10 and then the problem went away.

Ok. Thanks again Ghosthand! We'll keep warning people until we hear an update about it being fixed.
