how to make custom KDM4 & KDE4 Splash Screens

I would suggest making a copy of an existing theme and modifying it as necessary. You can probably find one already installed on your system - likely in /usr/share/kde4/apps/ksplash/Themes/

After looking to one example, I can figure out what to do. It works now. Turn out that you should compress all the file and folder created by KSplasherX, not just the resolution folder. Thanks for your help.

Hey guys, so far I haven't seen this covered in either tutorial, but I figured it wouldn't be too out of place to ask here, but I'm wondering is there a way to use a method like this to set a gif as a splash screen? Idk if thats something thats do-able, but I found one that would be a great splash, was wondering if that was even possible. Any info on the subject or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
