How to show your custom icons on to KDE SC 4.8 and later versions. This is a anonnying bug for the users whom cannot see your custom icons on ntfs partition. The problem is caused by a bug related with new version of Dolphin, but that I'm offer is a partial solution.

First: Create an image of 2x2 pixels and save with the name blank.gif (It doesn't matter really)

Second: Save onto the folder that wich is inside NTFS partition.

Third: Choice an icon into dolphin folder by folder, if you already have a custom icons don't need proceed.

Fourth: Click on preliminar view or preliminar show (sorry I don't remember how is in english) (vista preliminar)

Fifth: enjoy your custom icons!

Sorry for my baddest english! I need more practice

It's easier than that.

kdesudo systemsettings (or open system settings with root)

open File Associations

locate inode

highlight directory

click on folder icon

navigate to folder you want and click okay.

You can also use the same apporach without root for system folders.

The method described by paulyizzzle is for changing all folder icons system wide, where as mgonzalez's method affects only a single folder (so you could have many folders with different icons).
