Good afternoon,
1. How do I install KDE on Linux 4.13? 2. How do I install KDE Plasma + Framework5? Thank you! : D |

At this point, installing KDE Plasma 4.x is recommended as the 5.x series is still under active development and is not ready for production use at this time.
A 4.x series desktop should be the default when installing from the appropriate openSUSE KDE media.

See here: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_repositories In particular http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_reposito ... SC_release for 4.13 and http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_reposito ... 6_Plasma_5 for Plasma + Frameworks5. But please note that you cannot install Plasma5 and KDE4's Desktop at the same time with the standard packages. I created replacement packages where necessary to make this possible though. For how to install them, see here: http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.p ... ost2654365 You can then choose between "KDE Plasma Desktop" (KDE 4) and "Plasma 5" at the login screen. If you have question regarding those (or other openSUSE-specific ones), please ask over there at the openSUSE forums... |

I've tried KDE5 on Opensuse 13.1-x64 with KDE4 on Virtual box.
After installing it (by reading some posts on forum), i lose the login screen. I have instead a dirty simply grey-white screen. After giving login and password, i can see the new KDE interface. Did I forget something to install? |

The default login screen on openSUSE with KDE4 is kdm. But this gets removed when you install Plasma5 because of conflicts, therefore the system falls back to xdm. You should install some other display manager instead, e.g. lightdm, as mentioned on http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_reposito ... 6_Plasma_5 (on 13.1 gdm should work as well, but it would pull in a lot of GNOME packages of course). You should also set the display manager in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager, as the setting there will probably stay at kdm and not be changed automatically. Or use the Plasma 5 packages I created (see my previous post), those are co-installable with KDE4 and won't remove kdm and kdebase4-workspace... |

Hi,
You can try some preconfigured openSUSE with Plasma 5 here : https://susestudio.com/search?q=plasma+5&order=date |
