again here's a possible KDE specific solution to what might be your power management issue https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 5#p1398745
Hi guys,
Just in case it helps anyone, I had the same problem, but the solution I have found is different. All I had to do was to go to systemsettings --> Startup and Shutdown --> Service Manager (tab) --> Startup Service (lower section). Then you have to make sure the Power Management service is checked and running. In my cause, it was unchecked and stopped, for some reason I don't know. This should be fix the problem.
Best regards.

copy of crash report 20 minutes ago. Bug report is amid auto submission. Happened as I tried to log in and found an unknown ubuntu 14.10 OS, which tomthegeek.com must have attempted to install over kbuntu 14.04.1. crash followed my use of four different passwords.

Application: Plasma Desktop Shell (plasma-desktop), signal: Segmentation fault

What is actually done? I've found this statement in the Activity Settings-System Settings where one Configure per-activity Power Management. The published error says: "Power Management configuration module could not be loaded. The Power Management Service appears not to be running. This can be solved by starting or scheduling it inside "Startup and Shutdown" I give up again. I've read the KDE instruction but find no tab, toggle or other change mechanism that will cause the bullet to move to a different position.

A note warns you that Advanced Settings ought be done by (advanced users only)

Many thanks Mr. Manager.... apologies, my schedule and my eyes won't let me work on this yet except for creating a DVD for Kubuntu 14.04.1 desktop AMD 64 iso.1.1 gb. Why? Five or so years back I learned that by teaming various just installed OSs that failed, I'd boot up a desktop iso.
By working via a destop.iso you can tell DVD to start an install. Then you can terminate that install before the install completes itself. Doing this let the desktop repair OSs... a new install having problems.

saw that fix faulty results fix my problem enough times that I credit it as desktop magic. For me it is,,,, instead of doing what I do not understand. I go for just getting out of a forest .....

it's okay go ahead and laugh...

for the meantime I'm going turn off the light and pray a bit of deep sleep lets me do what it takes to solve it

quandry remains.... 14.04 OS asks to do an update but your recommendations re terminal both did an updated and followed per sudo apt-get upgrade.

Terminal opened and did an update and thereafter separately did an upgrade

google01103 wrote:for terminal:

Code: Select all

that went okay with no errors to post

I've ended up having the notice that this essentially new KDE 14.04.1 OS install still announces that updates awaits me. But, something prevents that particular update to happen. Thanks!!!

But look with me ,,,,, since I built my 12.04 ubuntu studio starting way back at 9:04 Kamric ubuntu and have not removed anything that I recall. So ? Is there a chance I could lighten up the OS and maybe remove excessive strains following Vrseer's apt-get autoremove described in https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthrea ... ght=remove.

I don't use apt nor Kubuntu so I can't tell you what you should do - for distribution specific question their forum is the best place to ask

the "excessive strains", if they exist, would just free up disk storage - correct? is storage an issue? No idea what risks you might encounter. If the person who installed it for you formated the partition then the only thing there would be what he installed as the formatting would wipe everything existing away.

the updates awaiting, this is from Muon ( the system tray widget)? re-running the updates in the terminal does not resolve it? Allowing Muon to update does not resolve it?

other than the updates does your system have other issues?
