Krita Hates Wacom or just me?

Sun Sep 20, 2015 4:29 pm
I downloaded Krita 2.9.7 on my windows 8.1 PC. I did notice the message telling me to update my drivers if I got a black or blank window.
Seeing as this was the case, I downloaded the latest driver for my Wacom Ituos graphics tablet and: NOTHING CHANGED.
Still a black window, no drawing was happening; I'm a little bit vexed.
Windows 8.1
Krita 2.9.7
Wacom Intuos with latest driver
What am I doing wrong?

Also, for the record, this is why I HATE Windows >:( !

Hello Cyberleaf,

Your wacom tablet drivers should have nothing to do with this issue and I can attest that it works on both my Windows and Linux machines; but your graphics card drivers might. (AMD, Intel, Nvidia) I recomend you try updating these if you're still experienceing problems. Just visit your appropriate graphics vendor's support site. If you have a Desktop, but no graphics card, your graphics are supplied by your CPU vendor as they are on the same chip. If you have a laptop, It will generally be the same case with the CPU, unless you see an Nvidia logo on your computer's shell. If that is the case, try checking with the laptop vendor first, and then with nvidia for the appropriate driver.

If you are at least able to see the toolbars (File, Edit, View, etc.) and docklets (Colorwheel, Tool-types), then try clicking through like so:
1) "File" > "New" (Or both the CTRL+N Keys)
2) "Design" > "A3" or "A4" > "Use this template" button. (You can choose any design realy, these are just examples.)
3) If you are presented with a white page on a grey background, you're now on an active, editable layer. This is were you can test your tablet out.

Also, If you hate windows so much, there are many fine desktop distributions of both BSD and Linux that you can try, but this should be at your own discression after some careful research - if you have not already done so.

Hope this helps you in any way,
FlagC.
