Hi
I would like to search all my files but I can't find any frontend to put in the items I am searching for! How shall I proceed!? (by the way - I have a newer version on an other machine running - and there it is working fine, but I cant upgrade this machine an cant distinguish any important difference...) I dont know to much about KDE and stuff and would like to have to install only some package to go ahead for! But this seems not possible, since I could google any valuable and pretty handsome information. fi |

Just after posting this topic I found the solution:
- Open Dolphin File-Browser - Klick the Search-Icon (some Glasses) or tape ctrl+F to search for filenames only - change nothing BUT to search for content-Strings: - Klick at "Content" or "Inhalt" Button NOW dolphin lists all baloo-Results in the aktual and all sub-directories. If You want the results for ALL Files on Your Desktop - Klick "ALL" or "Überall" Have FUN! btw.: - This simple stuff would really appreciated in some general Howto! |

And what frontend are you using there? You should be able to use Baloo in KDE4's krunner (i.e. the Alt+F2 dialog) too. You might have to enable the "Desktop Search" runner in its settings though (click on the "wrench" icon in the Alt+F2 dialog). And the "milou" plasmoid for searching stuff via Baloo is available for KDE4 too, but probably not installed by default. |
