Hi. I’m working on making some images to be screen printed. I’m very new to working on a PC but have bought a Cintq tablet and have chosen Krita to try and make my work. I’ve been following tutorials and I really like this program. It seems to work smoothly on my PC and is easy to grasp. I tried Photoshop first, then Painter but bother were such steep learning curves, and both were buggy and laggy on my desktop. I do however have a few questions, probably very obvious ones but I’m struggling to find a clear answer anywhere so I thought I’d post here.
I create several layers, five i think for the first one. Some of these layers may be groups of layers but they can be made into single layers before I start looking for some colour scheme. Each layer will be one colour when printed and use a single colour for each layer when making the image on the PC but I need to be able to take a layer and change the colour of that layer. I thought the magic wand tool but I do use quite a lot of smear and blending so I’m worried that the magic wand will not collect all the pixels and it's quite fiddley and slow. I'm looking for a way to be able to adjust the different layers so I can browse for how different inks will look and make decisions about different printing pallets. What’s the best way to choose all the marks in one of my layers or groups and adjust/change the colour? I’m looking at the first test print being around 70cm by 50cm. I will go larger later but will start with this size for the first one. I’ve been creating canvases of this size in Krita and using a resolution of 300. Do you think this is too much or about right? |
