I would like to ask you about installing Windows Themes and icons in KDE Plasma (OpenSuse Leap 42.1)
https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1013482

I have managed to extract both Windows Dartk and Light 9.9 Themes as well as Windows Icons folder.

I have tried to put them in .icons, .themes folder but it simply does not work. The system does not see them.
Except some Windows icons. Not all are replaced when chmging the Icon Theme.

How can I properly (manually or automatically) install themes in KDE Plasma? Should it be any specific way dependent on the Distro or is it universal for all KDE Desktop?

Thank you in advance.

The KDE Frameworks 5 is following Freedesktop.org standards and specifications - XDG Base Directory Specification: https://specifications.freedesktop.org/ ... atest.html is telling:

$XDG_DATA_HOME defines the base directory relative to which user specific data files should be stored. If $XDG_DATA_HOME is either not set or empty, a default equal to $HOME/.local/share should be used.

At here, with

Qt 5.7.0
KF 5.24.0
Plasma 5.7.2
KDE Applications 16.04.3
Arch Linux

Import QtCurve/color scheme

If the QtCurve is installed then there is an option to import QtCurve setting file ( Windows X.qtcurve ). There is also an option to import a color scheme ( Windows 10 Default.colors).

The KDE is caching things - https://specifications.freedesktop.org/ ... atest.html:
$XDG_CACHE_HOME defines the base directory relative to which user specific non-essential data files should be stored. If $XDG_CACHE_HOME is either not set or empty, a default equal to $HOME/.cache should be used.

Sometimes - If the themes seem to be partial the cleaning of the cache is helping at here.

or the icon theme could be partial...

or there could be a bug...looking - a bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=256856

Tinkering a bit....

This could be a bit easier with the look&feel

Maybe with the coming look&feel KNewStuff button (*1) you only need to click and pick. But first someone need to wrap the 'Windows 10 Transformation Pack and Icons' as a look&feel package.

notmart:
* look and feel kcm has now a KNewStuff button, taking content from new server

As usual I remain bouche bée.

Thank you very much. You will not see me here for a long time. I will be very busy deciphering your guide and putting in practical effect.
