Linux is the operating system you are already running if you installed Ubuntu.
KDE is a community of people who, among other things, make applications for Linux, but you can find more about us here: https://www.kde.org/community/whatiskde/
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11

KDE is a comprehensive desktop environment, at minimal it's an intuitive graphical user interface to your system. |

You mean Plasma is a comprehensive desktop environment. As of today the name KDE no longer stands for K Desktop Environment, but for the community that produces the software. What would have been previously known as KDE 4 was split into three products: Plasma Workspaces, KDE Applications, and KDE Platform – bundled as "KDE Software Compilation 4"... So KDE now is a community which creates Plasma desktop and apps |
