Editing screencasts

Wed Mar 15, 2017 10:12 am
On Ubuntu 14.04 I used to create and edit screencasts using Kdenlive.

On Ubuntu 16.04 I noticed that this results in a significant loss of quality. I noticed this before but I thought it was fixed with 14.04. Now I am seeing it again on Ubuntu 16.04. The loss of quality is so significant that the resulting video is unusable.

This is something I never fully understood with Kdenlive. It seems impossible to create screencasts with the same quality as the source material.

Is this because I added some effects?

What is the correct way to create screencasts that have the same resolution / bitrate / fps etc etc as the source material. Is there an instruction on how to do video editing without loss of quality?

Thanks and Regards,
Onno
