I have several PCs all running the latest Kubuntu 16.10 and a few of them had duplicate entries for Okular in the Dolphin right click "open with" menus - see image below.



Searching the web did not provide a solution to the duplication of entries on the application menu.

The Solution

The solution turns out to be pretty simple. Select the Application menu -> System Settings -> From the Personalisation section select Applications -> File Associations -> Enter "PDF" to search for the file type. See image below:




Remove the duplication entry or entries from the list. Press "Apply" and hey presto, job done. See image below:




So finally you will have got rid of the duplicate application entry!
