I had the same problem. The reason was ´kmozillahelper_0.5+git20091113-0ubuntu1~debfx1_i386.deb´. A downgrade to the earlier package resolved it for me:

same prob here, and downgrade solved it

Glad it could be of help to someone! My blog tips, along with the Firefox Opensuse 11.2 integration .deb, really have my Firefox looking and acting and like a welcomed KDE application.

Because of the plug-ins for Firefox, several of which I find too useful to be able to part with (such as Xmarks, for example), I would rather see Firefox at home in KDE than to use a lesser-established, lesser developed browser.

I have also noticed, as of 3.5.5, Firefox seems to be catching back up to Chrome in terms of speed and reliability. I routinely have 20+ tabs open at a time, with only 1GB of RAM at the moment. All is good right now in KDE/Firefox-land.

It looks like the problem went away with today's update of the xulrunner...-kde package.

I am using qtcurve and disabled the horizontal gradient in the window decorations.

Am I the only one who strongly dislikes the mismatch of gradiented deco to non-gradiented windows when using windowborders that should look like part of the window instead of a frame?

Oh well, I think it looks good, and a wonderfull sideeffect is, that all gtk apps fit right in.

well, I just noticed that starting firefox by typing some address in konsole and clicking `open link' afterwards makes it compliant with the current kde colorscheme. strange, ha?

There is a package that makes Dolphin (in all its glory) appear as the file picker in Firefox. In kubuntu (debian I suppose) it's called "kmozillahelper"; can be installed from repos.
Note that you have to set the filepicker in about:config to default (the one that usually gives you the ugly Gnome filepicker).

Yes, that was mentioned earlier in the thread. It was developed by openSUSE for the 11.2 release and has been ported to other distros for subsequent releases. There was talk of sending the patch upstream once it is working properly, but I do not know if that has been done yet.

Kubuntu 10.10 must be on the right track. KPackagekit is telling me that kmozillahelper isn't installed but my Firefox uses Dolphin for the file saver and an application menu as the file picker. And now that I've installed the Oxygen Molecule theme, it looks just like Oxygen but it doesn't take on changes in the color scheme. I may have to try out that plug-in.
