Is there a way to set which icon theme is displayed in the gtk file picker? I am using the Eikon theme in kde which also has a gnome version that I would like to use in place of those dull default icons. Help me out please!

You need to use the appropriate GNOME utility to configure the Gtk file picker I believe.

Unfortunately I do not believe it is possible to use the KDE file picker at this time with Firefox.

Unfortunately, I know.
Only Kgtk is a known solution, but not yet reliable in KDE4. |

I apoligze if this is the wrong place for this; I just got Kubuntu 9.10, which comes with KDE 4.3.2. I'm not very comfortable with Konqueror. However, I want to be able to use the super cool downloader that integrates into the job tracker. I thought it might be Kget, but my Aptitude doesn't see a Kget, and I can't seem to find any reference to it in the documentation. So my question is, is there a way to do that?

shows it for me. However. please open a new topic, if this is only about KGet (and please use the "internet" forum in this case.) |

Based partly on this thread I have written an article on better integrating Firefox with KDE. This is just how I decided to do it, and not meant to be an end-all be-all of how you can make Firefox more at home within the KDE4 Desktop.
Thanks to all in this thread for providing insight into the steps you have taken in order to achieve getting Firefox to play nicer in KDE4. Comments are welcome here and on the blog, and if enough ideas are worthy, or if I missed some obvious ones (entirely possible) I would be glad to provide a follow-up article. Does it work for you? I installed it but I don't have the KDE file dialog when doing "save as". EDIT: It turned out I didn't installed the firefox-3.5-kde package. It works now, thanks !!
