Hey folks,
I had real trouble getting a printer working but now that i found out I will share my knowledge. Over the websites of CANON you will likely find nothing to absolutely nonsense instead of what you want (obvious for a user supplier). But under the surface they DO have packages for it. As debian user you will need alien to make this work as rpm user well just install for all others please consider yourself search for a tool that would convert the rpm files. In my git repository under shell_scripts/canoni250 is a shell script that will download the two needed files and you will have to procede from this point on if you are yurios look at it first befor running. Have fun!

I have a canon250 and always have had difficulties to install it in linux (Debian/ubuntu).
Avoiding packages dependency is quite impossible. Only possibility: untar the necessary files at the right place.... and create the necessary symlinks (+ a bit of google.....) Needs some manual work anyway. |

The packages can flawlessly transformed into debian packages with alien worked for me fine. just
and watch how everything works. Of course you will need to use
to install it.

I don't know which distribution you are using.
Try this in Debian or ubuntu, and you will get package conflicts over the time. Canon i250 drivers are not maintained. The only solution I know: directly copy the necessary files at the right place in the system, and forget the packages. |
