I have seen many people here on the forums struggling with PPTP VPN. Creating the PPTP connection is fairly simple but for most people it could not be activated. Clicking on the PPTP connection in KNetworkManager applet does nothing.

Here is how I fixed this issue:

1. Install network-manager-gnome and network-manager-pptp and all it's dependencies.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install network-manager-gnome network-manager-pptp

2. Create your PPTP connection as usual.
3. Click on your PPTP connection in the KNetworkManager applet.

It should activate now :)

This does not workfor me. All dependencies are installed, the PPTP VPN is set up correctly and I cannot get it working in KDE 4.3.2. I am working with a fresh install so the /.kde directory is at its default settings. No matter what I try Knetworkmanager will not connect to a vpn. Kvpnc works so all is not lost. I've got GNOME installed too and that networkmanger works just fine so I know I have all that is needed.
I'd file a bug report but I don't think that I have anything new to add.
