I don't know about you, but I had quite some problem with playing wine games in KDE as both plasma and Kwin interrupted my playing as sometimes when I scrolled I inadvertently changed desktop and scrolling down where I have a panel was slower.
Also you don't really need plasma or kwin running while plaing a game. So I've edited .desktop file to start my game without plasma or kwin. There are many way to get this done, I'll just describe how I did it. (I think it's the best way, but that's just because that's how I like it) So first make a new activity and set it to folderview. Then configure it to show your desktop folder. Then just drag and drop from menu games you want to have on your desktop. Or if you don't have them in just skip to next step. So after that you edit or just create a new .desktop (it doesn't need the suffix) file on desktop. In it write this (or just add):
That should do it. What this does it quits plasma and kwin before starting your game and starts them back when you quit your game. I hope this will help anyone.

Hi, I tried:
kquitapp plasma-desktop & kquitapp kwin && env WINEPREFIX="/home/user_name/.wine" wine "C:\path\to\windows\game\you\want" && plasma-desktop; kwin& and that makes the wine app not start. Nothing happens. Cursor just flickers briefly. I also tried: env WINEPREFIX="/home/user_name/.wine" wine "C:\path\to\windows\game\you\want" && kquitapp plasma-desktop && kquitapp kwin && plasma-desktop; kwin& wine app starts but after exiting the app nothing happens. On wine 5.0 and KDE neon 17.5 Any clues? |

This does not belong here, this section is NOT for asking questions.
FWIW: you already asked in the Neon subforum, how about waiting for an answer?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
