I have a question about the bug 198814.
What exactly is an extender? I have searched Google and found the extender concept on plasma.org, but I don't know how to get an extender? |

Indeed, an extender is a Plasma concept. When you click the clock widget in the panel, you get a new "sub-popup" widget with the calendar on it. That is an Calendar extender. The extenders can be dragged from their original widgets and put into the Desktop (a special container will be put inside the Desktop, called "Collection" which allows you to have extenders as they were unique Plasma widgets. Ex. "Collection" widgets contains/holds extenders on the Desktop) Other widgets that have extenders in panel are: the battery widget and the notification icon inside the system tray widget (where the notifications and file operation progress appear) If your widgets are unlocked, you can recognize the extenders because they have their own "titlebar" (you can drag them using it). ---- Some other widgets are PopupApplets (a similar concept, but their "popup" cannot be dragged): the Device Notifier, the Kickoff Launcher menu... as examples. I hope this can be helpful |
