Bespin has absolutely nothing to do with how the top menu works, if it works it will work for any style.

Is it possible to checkout just the code of that part of the Bespin style?

That's weird. The menubar doesn't work for me until I switch to Bespin, but afterwards it works with any style.

Kryten2X4B: Have you tried to add it to a panel?

Where can I find the Bespin SVN repos? It does not work with my kubuntu 8.10 version from repos.

Yeah, but unfortunately with the same result (or lack thereof...).[hr]

Id rather hope to get rid of menus at all. Cuz lets be honest, how much do you need em? I have been happen to recognize that i use menus rarely, so its better to follow Windows style, where you hide most of menus :)

one reason i think a universal menubar is a good idea is because it makes the toolbar the focal point of the app.
i've noticed that i usually feel more efficient using mac apps (not a fanboy or even an owner) because they seem to be designed around a toolbar that has more functionality than windows or some linux apps.

Just read this article on the Mac OS style menu bar on Planet. It details the technical requirements and the pros and cons of the XBar implementation. It also makes me want it even more without having to use it with Bespin.

Yeah, would be nice to have XBar working with Skulpture.

I've been praying for this... Obviously the pros of having it as the default outweighs the cons. Actually, I couldn't think of any cons...

I am guilty of not reading the whole thread but cairo-dock does the business. Very configurable but far too complicated for kde as it is gtk stuff. Having spent an hour or so getting it to do what I want though it is nothing short of orgasmic. If something similar is in the works for kde - fantastic!

OK didn't really installed it, but isn't a Cairodock just that - a dock?
AFAIK OP is asking about OS X global menu bar which is provided by Bespins X-Bar and by global-menu-bar or something which is still in playground...

Are there any plans on making the global menu/xbar a style independent Qt thing rather than dependent on bespin? Is GTK+-Support planned in xbar? I know of this globalmenu thing for xbar which is under heavy development and did not work for me.

I already searched for this and I don't want to search forever ;)
