Didn't help. It seems so far that I have to use xbar. It's a shame, of course, that the plasmoid is still working fine only on (K)Ubuntu, but I hope that in future it will be fixed.

You need to use this patched Qt-version to use global menus:
http://qt.gitorious.org/~agateau/qt/agateau-qt
It will probably sometime merged with Qt, but till then you need to checkout this and compile qt yourself (Kubuntu 10.10 seems to use this as default for it's Qt packages)

Please correct me if it was already merged.
