to old (2004), incl. wanted bugs, incl. license problems, not updatet the braught-by-system cdrtools

Are you absolutely sure your information is up to date? The page you link to two years old - a lot can change in that time.

I don't know anything about this controversy, but two things were easy to check: The claim that Debian distributes a fork of mkisofs under the same name is nor true (at least not any longer); Debian distributes genisoimage. On systems using genisoimage, mkisofs is just a symlink. Also the claim that openSuse changed back to the original mkisofs is no longer true; they too use genisoimage.

Another thing is that you have to wonder about the objectivity of that page; it is written be the lead developer of mkisofs, who is part of the conflict. In and of it self this does not, of course, mean that the page is untrustworthy, but it would be nice to have some independent corroboration.

One way to do this would be to verify that the bugs mentioned still affect genisoimage. If you know for a fact that this is the case, it might be helpful to other users to know about that.

Finally you should realize that neither mkisofs nor genisoimage are KDE projects and that the various distributions are also entirely independent of KDE. Information about this situation might be relevant, but when you are asking for change in this forum you are barking up the wrong tree. If you want change you need to convince the package managers of the various distributions. But be sure the information you present to them is accurate, otherwise they are not likely to take you seriously.

For this I want to excuse me to all the people who are involved in KDE,
I had the absolutly wrong information the KDE-developers are not only working together whith the debian-developers
my information 'til yesterday night was, they're the same.
This surely makes a BIG difference
& in this case I'll like to bet you, to delete the relevant not true postings

So... Was this figured out, or what? Does building cdrtools from source allow the making of iso > 4gb? It's not very clear, what with all the broken English and conspiracy.

Most distributions shipped now should contain disc burning tools with Bluray support as far as I am aware.
Are you unable to burn them?
