We'll see if this is the right place for this.
I have been using Ubuntu for a couple or three years. I thought 10.04 was wonderful. I thought 11.04 was utterly terrible. My search for a replacement Linux distro took me through Fedora 17, to Kubuntu 12.04. I like it, mostly. I like it's elegance. I like that many things work well, adding usefulness. KDE is pretty cool. I installed Thunderbird because KMail 4.6.1 was a huge step backward. Presumably, I'm missing something but searches of Google haven't shown me what it is. I installed Google's Chrome browser which seems to be a significant improvement over 'browser' and I like Chrome better than Firefox. But, again, maybe I didn't give it proper consideration. It is annoying that KDE really insists on trying to open Firefox instead of Chrome despite having set Chrome as the handler in all the places I can find. Anyone want to lend a bloke a clue? Still learning some of the ins and outs. It seems like KickOff could be better configured out of the box. Also seems like there could be a better configuration tool for KickOff. Or have I simply not found the right way to do it yet? All in all, it looks good. I'll be staying with it for the foreseeable. Thanks to the contributors of KDE and Kubuntu. I appreciate the results. regards, Smittie |
