Hi, I'm a newbie to KDE and I'm using KDE 4.3.5.

I'm now trying to disable right click menu to prevent user doing some adjustment.
So far I've disable most of the services by editing KDE Restrictions in Kdeglobal, but there's still something need to be shut down.
Which is pager setting and folder view setting when right click on pager and desktop.
Any idea how to disable these services?

From what I recall, support for Kiosk in Plasma in earlier versions of the KDE 4.x series was lacking in a few places.
You might want to take a look at http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Plasma/Kiosk for more information however - it looks like locking out the configuration dialogs fully might be possible.

Thanks for the information, Bcooksley.
However I still can't disable desktop setting.

I know upgrade will be a good solution, but I have to convince my boss first.

I've just checked the current code - try disabling the action "plasma/containment_actions" or alternatively, set the containment as immutable.

Thanks I'll give it a try.

The reason I want to disable this is to prevent user opening directories.

Maybe there is another way to do this.

I see. To my knowledge those functions cannot be individually restricted.

Please do note that many applications such as KWrite, Dolphin, etc also offer this capability - and it is a crucial requirement for their operations (otherwise one cannot open files, or it defeats the whole purpose of the application).

Hi bcooksley,

I successfully disable right click menu by adding "action/plasma/containment_context_menu" in kdeglobals.

Thanks for your hint!!
