Hello, everytime I change anything in Kalender (Korganizer), it backs up data. Is there a way I can define how often backups are going to be done? E.g., periodically every x minutes or after x updates.

These "backups" are made by KOrganizer to avoid loss of data should the system become unable to complete the operation to save changes to your information - such as when power is lost, the application crashes, or other similar adverse events.
If you are looking for proper backups, I would recommend performing them using another tool such as Luckybackup.

Ofcourse - I DO understand the principles behind backing up data! However I would hope that there is something like "automatically backup data" every x updates or after every 10 minutes, don't you agree? Just imagine a multi-user system with many people accessing Korganizer. Wouldn't this lead to possibly inacceptible load on eg. the disks? Basically I would like to be able specify the backup frequency.

It shouldn't lead to a severe level of load on disk infrastructure from what i'm aware - as it moves the original file to the restore filename, before writing out a completely fresh file containing the new data. These writes are *only* performed when a change is made to the data, and is an automatic part of KDE infrastructure which KOrganizer utilises to write to files in a safe manner.
It is more of a data safety feature than a backup feature - and as such you can't change the behaviour of it, as you can't use the method it uses if you only write out a backup every x changes.

Well, if it is like that, I will have to accept it. It is just that I also use LibreOffice. There you can specify exactly what I want regarding "data safety"...
Thanks in any case for your help Regards H.S. |
