Many people like a clean screen without any annoying icon stuff wasting precious space.
One can remove all panels. However, after removing that "Kick-whatever" panel, a new panel labeled with the text "Desktop" and a cashew appears. This panel doesn't offer a "Remove Panel" function. It does not even have an hide option. This "cashew panel" is very annoying, visually contaminating an otherwise clean screen. It only can be moved around the screen corners to a position as least intrusive as possible. There seem no straightforward and simple ways to get rid of this nuisance. However, it should not be necessary to put much effort in removing things which people feel highly intrusive. (By the way, the lacking ability to remove the cashew is one of the three reasons why I still use FVWM, which is minimally intrusive but sadly offers little eyecandy. Now, after a system update, I am giving KDE a new chance and try to configure it as usable and as least intrusive as possible...) One shouldn't be forced to go such lengths like described here, for example: http://blog.hanschen.org/2008/10/23/pla ... he-cashew/ The actual reason for the problem seems to be this:
A single guy seems to take it very personal whenever one dares to touch the "cashew" subject, and apparently tries to suppress any discussion about it. I don't feel this kind of rejecting user feedback exactly democratic. Should it really be this way? Thus I ask all people who want the possibility to easily get rid of the cashew to (constructively) post here. Thank you. |

Hi Feline,
I'm absolutely agree with you!! We need an option to delete the "cashew"; normaly KDE is known as a DE that gives the user all options to konfigure the Desktop. Not in this case. Another wish is to get an option to konfigure the transparency of the widgets on the desktop. Merry christmas to all KDE users, Stefan. |
