when I first turn on my computer the power light on my computer monitor comes on then the monitor light goes to standby.I wait a few seconds and the computer appears to excess the internet and the power on light on my monitor turns on again and everything boots properly. Seems like I have a problem with the boot loader? Only a guess. If anyone knows how to further diagnose, fix, or correct this problem please reply.[bug][/bug]

I would suggest posting on your distribution's forums concerning this - only they'll have the precise knowledge needed concerning the Mint boot process - sounds like it could be any number of things from bootloader to the splash screen initialisation.

Agreed.

In the meantime you could boot without splash (hint: google boot without splash linux mint) and have a look at what it does...
