problem with Transparent menus

Sat Oct 04, 2014 10:02 pm
I have been using Kubuntu as a low tech user for the last 5 years (so have some idea) since installing 14.04 I am having problems with certain program drop down menues being so transparent that I can't see them.

It maybe the graphics card driver as have installed Nivida driver and maybe shouldn't have as remember had a problem in 11.04 (on the same Laptop) or I need new glasses.

Any ideas would be useful

Regards

Ubuntuku, sorry but i started life as Boatman and for some reason, I cant log on again.

All the setting are at default and should work the problems have happened with 2 specific software programs Bluegriffon and Open CPN (first a WYSIWYG web editor and second a sailing navigation program) the drop down menues for both programs are nearly transparent and cannot be read as the text behind confuses everything.

I am wondering if it is a NVIDIA 331.38 driver problem but i am hoping to find another reason

Change the GTK2 Theme setting from "oxygen-gtk" to a different theme.
