I have a stable version of Kubuntu 14.04 running on my laptop.

I would like to test the install of some new software and/or settings without putting my current OS at risk.

Is there a way I can install Kubuntu 14.04 and then just sync my installed applications and settings?

Or is there a way to actually snapshot my non-data (so the OS, installs, configs... just not music, movies, photos, etc) so I can test an install and do an exact rollback to my previous setup if there is an issue?
