Qt WebEngine

Tue May 05, 2015 10:28 pm
Hi all,

I read something about Qt WebEngine. I was quite surprised to know that no one used it to build a browser in the past years...
Am I wrong?

What I recall hearing about it was that there were plans to move things to start using it after it was released (Qt 5.4). I think the latest versions of KDE should be running on versions of Qt that have the WebEngine available, so switching/adapting konqueror (and other things which use rendering engines) to use WebEngine should be possible.

Doing some googling reveals that apparently Otter Browser (attempting to recreate the prior Opera browser experience) is using WebEngine

Thanks! It seems Otter can use QTWebEngine only as experimental feature wuth Qt5.5, nevertheless I'll monitor it.
