KPPP hangs on start

Hello, i want to use kppp to connect to the Austrian A1-network via a tongle. When starting the programme under Mint-17.1 (Rebecca), a connection-window is displayed, asking for User-Id and password. When selecting the configuration button (Einrichtung in German), kppp hangs. I t can't even be KILLed. Has anybody had this experience? Thanks for any hints.

Forget the issue! I have set up wvdial and it functions flawlessly!
