I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with KDE 4.8.5 and I am seeing odd behaviour of the "kio_thumbnail" process - it seems to be constantly running, chewing CPU and network ( most of the time on an automount SMB mount). I cannot kill it, even with a -9 it comes back immediately. If I umount the SMB it also remounts it and continues

I have seen talk about "disabling previews", but as I don't use dolphin or konqueror I'm not sure where this option would be.

for the time being, I've renamed /usr/lib/kde4/kio_thumbnail.so so it doesn't load!
