1.)
I have an Android phone, and it runs the new OS. (Marshmellon) Since I was upgrading away from an iPhone I expected to be able to do a full phone OS backup to my local Debian system. (I could encrypt after the fact using ccrypt) This as it turns out is not so easy. In fact I installed android-tools-adb, and it doesn't work at all. I use KDE-Connect to sync my phone with my desktop file system. I think this would be a perfect feature for this software. Feature Request: KDE-Connect - A full system encrypted backup. One that does not require you to unlock your bootloader, or root your phone. 2.) [resolved] I use both Plasma-desktop and netbook. I would love it if instead of the basic cal widget it would connect to my Google calendar. I could set stuff from my desktop/laptop, and have them show up on my phone too and visa versa. Feature Request: Add support for Google Calendar service to KDE cal widget/KDE settings. I love all of your great work! Thank you!

The maintainer of KDEConnect reached out to me, and I figured I'd share.
Hi Debianuser, A sync/backup plugin is already on the to-do list :) Unfortunately, it will probably need root because of the phone security restrictions (ie: one app can't access every file from every other app), and that's why this feature is not a top priority. Albert ==== Talk to Google about how to do it. If you unlock you disable Google pay. Make them help you to get it working. I can't believe Google shipped an OS that you can't fully backup/restore like you can with iPhone. ==== Well, you can allow them to backup your things to the Google cloud, but I don't think you can take a full backup to your PC for example. Albert ==== Exactly. I want a full local backup just like iTunes, and to have it encrypted with ccrypt for example. |

It looks like Google Calendar is supported in KDE:
in Korganizer (kde's calendar app) right-click in the calendar list area -> Add Calendar ... -> Google Calendars and Tasks. Follow the directions to set up access to the calendar. From there everything should be integrated as you would expect - calendar entries show up in the calendar widget, reminders pop up, editing/adding calendar entries should save them to google, etc. (you can also add the calendar from System Settings -> Personal Information)

Well two things. One it seems mine is nonfunctional. (when I get some time I need to investigate a fix) Two to clear up my meaning. I meant the part of kde on the panel where you see the date. You click that and a cal pops out with events. I'd like my google cal events to show up there. |

That calendar widget pop-up integrates with the PIM calendar items, so when you get the calendar set up in korganizer then the events will show up in the calendar widget pop-up.
