Kodi add-on for KDE Presentations

Tue Sep 13, 2016 7:00 am
I've just created an add-on for Kodi that allows you to access KDE presentations and view them in Kodi directly. It can show all available audio and video presentations that are available from https://files.kde.org, where I only look in the folders "akademy", "confkdein" and "randa" (since there's much more than just presentations available in the other folders). There's currently no audio or video in "confkdein" at the moment, but I wanted to include it in case that changes.

You can find the add-on here (including installation instructions):
https://github.com/arucard21/plugin.med ... sentations

It's still new and fairly basic, but it should work pretty well in actually playing the presentations. Since Akademy 2016 has just been completed, I figured other people might also want to use this add-on to view the presentations in Kodi.

There is a slight problem with some of the older video presentations though. Some of these are stored in .ogg files, which are considered audio files by Kodi (as well as Xiph.org). So if possible, it would be nice if these video .ogg files could be renamed to .ogv.

If there are any problems with the add-on, feel free to let me know.

I couldn't really find any licensing information for these presentations. I found a CC BY 4.0 message but I'm not sure if that applies to all presentations. I've tried to attribute the presentations correctly (in addon.xml) and included a disclaimer, but if there are any shortcomings or problems here, please let me know.
