Yes of course Kubuntu is being updated; 16.10 will be out later this week, according tohttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/YakketyYak/ReleaseSchedule. It will be released with Plasma 5.7.5. Plasma 5.8 was released too close to our freeze deadline, so it will have to available through backports for 16.10. Whether 5.8 can be backported to 16.04 LTS or not is up in the air, and depends on whether or not a later Qt version will be backported, as I understand it. As to Neon, there is a user edition. Be aware however, that Neon is based on the Ubuntu LTS, so the base will not change for another 1.5 years. |

thanks for reply.
The backports is depends on the newest ubuntu release. now I knew it. no wonder it has no update for a period of time. the KDE NEON I am not going to use that. although it base on LTS, the KDE software of NEON it update too fast for me. it seems I need to wait the newest ubuntu 16.10, and try the KDE 5.7.5. the version that I use has some BUG. I has found the bug report and fix it manually. but I still prefer the newer version of KDE. Thank for replay. |

I had stability issues with Kubuntu 16.x and went back to 14.10 but really liked Breeze...then I found Neon and couldn't be happier. ![]() |
