With all KDE 4 versions I tried, including current trunk (rev 885782) , I have experienced the same strange thing: The login-sound is cut off after a while. Do you also have this Problem?

Do you know if there is a bug report for this? I couldn't find one at bugs.kde.org, but that may be due to my lack of searching skills.

You won't find a bug report on bugs.kde.org regarding this, as it is most likely a xine bug. Try the gstreamer backend, it should work with it.

I have all system sounds turned off. No problem!

The gstreamer backend doesn't give me any sound at all, so this is hardly an option for me.

I voted yes because the sound is cut-off. It does not bother mee. I am going to disable that sound.

One of the things that I found, at least with 4.1.3, if you don't click on anything and just let the sound run it will go all the way through. If you click on anything the sound abruptly stops.

Installed Mandriva 2009 x86_64 last night and didn't get any cut-off sounds, mainly because Pulse Audio seems to be about as pointless as ever -i.e., I can't hear a thing. After changing to ALSA I could at least hear sounds, including the truncated login sounds (but that's the first thing I disable anyway, after switching to ALSA)
