a few months ago i installed kde plasma on my mums laptop and it works great, never had an issue, i liked it enough to put it on my pc at home but as soon as i installed the video drivers for my geforce gfx card and tried to restart it gave me an error stating "the greeting server has crashed " or something to this effect, i was unable to "restart the app" so i searched for an answer for about 30 mins then i quit and went back to another OS... something as simple as a restart should work theoretically.
i installed kde last night again hoping that now several versions later the issue would be fixed ... nope.... as soon as i try to restart after installing drivers for my gfx card the greeting server fails and cannot be restarted. very unfortunate that you have what i consider to be one of the best linux OS out there but just cant use it because its always broken. maybe ill try again in a few months and see if there is any development on the issue, but im not holding my breath this time... i could have been killed last time! |

Which linux distro are you trying to use? KDE Neon? If you're using another linux distro, you might start by reporting the issue in the forums for that distro. If you're trying out KDE Neon, you might repost this in the KDE Neon subforum where you are likely to get specific feedback and assistance.

I had similar events. It all depends on the equipment's age. |
