Hi,
Been using Kubuntu 18.04 with KDE / Plasma for 3 - 4 months, generally happier than Ubuntu (all function keys for volume, screen brightness, etc. work good, which didn't in Ubuntu ). But regularly problems with system updates getting stuck, and the only way to get un-stuck is to, literally, hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Nothing else works. I would post a screenshot of the latest update to get stuck, but when I press the 'Img' button above, it does nothing except insert some code (does not go to my computer) Lenovo E470 / 16GB RAM / dual boot (Solus) br, Michael FInko |

I also use Kubuntu 18.04, what exactly is the problem? I usually do my upgrades on the command line
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Plasma won't let me log out / suspend / shut down, a message pops up and says something like 'you can't log out yet, update not finished'.
But since it's stuck, I'm held hostage! I'm running the desktop version, not server. Lot's of people have put a lot of effort into the GUI's, why not use them? ![]() br, Mike |

You should try to solve it on the command line though, as it is much faster and gives more output when something goes wrong with a GUI application.
Try my line above, and if you get an error message I would be interested to know the exact message you see.

Hi again,
Didn't write down my KDE password, thought I would remember... Anyways, updated via terminal (a while ago), fixed the issues, thanks for the advice. Still enjoying Kubuntu / Plasma, though do also like the other extreme (dual boot), Solus (simplicity). br, Michael |
