[MOCKUP] Kmix-plasmoid

Sat Nov 22, 2008 12:35 pm
I made a mock-up for kmix..
This is a Mock-up that just went threw my mind and I just wanted to share it...

I think this would be really cool!
Just imagine you left-click on the kmix-symbol in the taskbar and a plasmoid-like-window would pop up and give you all the necessary settings for your sound-card in just a click..

In a way like the mockup I made?!..

I am not a C++/KDE/Qt developer :-(, so I can't make this, sorry ..

Yeah, this really looks great in my opinion. But I think you should put the "Stumm" labels to another place. Now it looks like the channels Front, Front and CD are muted. Further, it should be configurable which channels should be displayed in the popup.

I would rather have just one audio-slider. The one for master-volume. There could then be a buttons for more advanced settings, like audio-levels for different outputs, channels and the like.

According to this bug report, a Plasmoid doesn't support sliders yet. But yes, I think this mockup looks like a good idea. If I understood correctly, Lancelot wants to use sliding bars in upcoming versions, too.

"I would rather have just one audio-slider. " wouldn't it be great to have the freedom of choice? just select master channel if you want.. or add the microphone and headphone sliders..
